Strandwoven COLORS Black Tagua
Sustainability Benefit:
Made from rapidly-renewable, mature (5-8 year) compressed bamboo fibers that are sourced from a 5-farmer bamboo cooperative, set up to solely supply Sustainable Flooring’s manufacturer. Select fibers are infused with natural pigment dyes, using “Through Color Technology” (TCT), before being coated in a low-VOC and EO resin, and then molded with a certain recipe to achieve the pattern of the Black Tagua style. The resulting log is cured via heat-activation, multiple steps of kiln-drying, and then milled into 3mm thick wear-layers for use on our engineered substrate. Unlike other “colored” bamboo products on the market, the COLORS line is the only one that offers the dyed technology to achieve uniform pattern throughout, significantly increasing longevity, while enabling the creation of exotic looks and species using rapidly renewable bamboo as the material stock. COLORS Black Tagua™ is designed to mimic the aesthetics of Madagascar Ebony found off the eastern coast of Africa, and Sandalwood found in the central African region around Kenya, Tanzania, and Mozambique.
- Extremely hard and stable (> 2.5 x harder than commonly used Oak, with less than ½ of the movement)
- Uses “Through Color Technology” (ie: pattern/color on the surface exists throughout the entire wear-layer), which delivers Life-cycle savings through decreased maintenance and longer spans between refinishing
- Available prefinished (micro-bevel w/ NO Aluminum Oxide) and unfinished (square-edged), with a full line of accessories (stair treads, etc.) and matching panel/millwork components
- Maximum “strand” size is 2mm
- “3-Phase” kiln-drying enables the inherent high moisture in bamboo is corrected for the North American market
- “FSC” Strandwoven Bamboo material available
